It's been 1 year since I started sleeping on the floor

What started as a temporary solution to avoid buying an expensive new mattress turned into one of the best decisions I’ve made for my wellbeing.

What Happened When I Ditched My Mattress

One year ago, I got rid of my mattress and switched to a Japanese floor futon.

Here’s what surprised me:

  • My chronic back pain disappeared within just a few weeks
  • My resting heart rate dropped from 50-55 bpm to a consistent 42-46 bpm
  • My flexibility improved significantly (I can actually touch my toes now!)
  • My sleep quality deepened in ways expensive mattresses never provided
  • My living space doubled as I can roll up my bedding during the day

Beyond Better Sleep

The benefits extended far beyond just improved sleep:

  • Simplified cleaning routine - no more awkward vacuuming around bed frames
  • More functional living space - my bedroom transforms into a workout area, filming space, or reading nook during the day
  • Greater adaptability when traveling - sleeping comfortably on the floor anywhere is now easy
  • More natural movement patterns throughout the day - I find myself sitting on the floor more, squatting naturally, and changing positions frequently
